DAY 31 Kir Royal

Our neighbours came over to spend the evening with us, they brought the Mousseux and we had some crème de cassis to go with it. Serve these two together and you have a delicious drink!
A Kir Royal! As you can see, it's time to go get a new bottle.

DAY 29 A smile

A smile connects us! I made this little book for mother's day almost 2 years ago, in the beginning of my digi scrappers days. One for my mom, one for my MIL and one for me... Mine has been sitting here since then and once in a while I turn the pics so we can look at another pair of gorgeous smiles when we enter our living room. I still enjoy to look at this after so long. I totally scraplifted the idea and the song from Kristi at CDS (chinadigitalscrapbooksdotcom). Thanks Kristi!

DAY 28 Control

Don't we all - married girls that is - look at this picture every day!? As soon as the TV is turned on, DH takes control over it. The girls can watch until daddy comes along and then, hoops, the remote control changes hands for the rest of the evening! Even when we watch together, he's the one holding it closely! Quite funny!

DAY 27 Home made bread

Today, my DH had a little surprise when I got home from work : he bought us a breadmaker! We talked about this a lot lately because the prices are going nuts here : 2 € for a simple white bread, that's $2.64. I have no clue how much you have to pay but after talking with friends this weekend who own a bread machine, my husband decided it was time to buy one too. This is a pic of our very first home made "machine" bread!

I had to turn it a little to take my photo because the other side is already missing : we had to taste it of course! We all love it!
The breadmaker is already making a second one: it's like a new toy, LOL! This time my DH is trying to make an Italian bread with olive oil.

DAY 26 Prima ballerina

Even ballerina's have to eat! Here is our little peanut, she just came back from her weekly ballet lesson, it's already 7:30 PM and she has to eat something before going to bed. Every Monday it's like rush hour, I'm home from work around 5:20 PM and L leaves for ballet at 5:45 PM. I try to give her some dinner (something made in advance) before she leaves but it's not always possible. Here she is, just finished her dinner and is going to enjoy a little dessert. Then it's bath-book-bed! Pffff, those Mondays are stressful but ... she doesn't mind, she LOVES ballet!
Oh, and HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!!

DAY 25 New car

I got a BIG promotion at work : a brand new car!!!!!!
I knew it for several months now but on Thursday my promotion finally arrived at the car dealer : a new Opel Corsa!
I love it, the girls love it ... just one little down point: "Mommy it smells!".... " Well, yes of course it does, it smells NEW! "
In all the years I've worked, this is the first time anyone offered me a car. I'm still pitching myself and going WOW, I'm not dreaming, it's true!!!!

DAY 24 A writer is born

Yesterday my girls were talking about what they want to do for a living when they grow up.

L wants to work with fabrics and decorate boxes. I told her this was a good idea because someone has to create and design all the beautiful boxes before people can buy them in the stores. So today she decorated boxes (shoe boxes that is... I think I'm going to need a huge trunk to put all the boxes in.)

A wants to be a writer. She loves rhymes and creates a lot of little poems , she has a little book where she writes them down. Yesterday she wanted to know if a writer can make a good living and today she wanted to start with her own novel. Here is the first pic of a writer to be! She told me she has the whole story already in her head. All I know so far : it's about aliens!

I'm curious if she's going to go on with this... and finish her story, or book, or best-seller! Who knows, this pic could be worth big $ in the future!

day 23 Amazonian nuts

Well, I shouldn't have but I did it anyway! I ate all these yummy amazonian (brasil) nuts today. I had more but already ate some before the photo. Once I start with these, I can't control myself.
I need to eat them all! Yum, Yum!!!!!!!!

DAY 22 inside my cookbook

My favorite Chinese cookbook. This is one of the first pages in this book. No recipes yet, but gorgeous photos! Isn't that little girl eating her noodles the cutest!

DAY 21 Cooking Chinese

These are my Chinese/Asian cookbooks, I'm no expert and I don't really have time for it but once in a while I try a new recipe. The black book is my favorite: Flavourous China! The recipes in that book are more about food like we tasted in China, nothing to compare with the Chinese food we get served at the local Chinese restaurants, here in Belgium. It's more about the real Chinese cooking, not the westernized(is this a word?) Chinese cooking. Sometimes I just look at the photos. They are gorgeous! I'll show a page or two tomorrow. Gorgeous!

DAY 19 Senseo

This is probably the one item in my kitchen I could never miss. I'm such a coffee addict and this little guy here, it's name is Senseo, makes my life so easy!!! It's so fast and makes great coffee.

DAY 18 Teddybears

Those poor little teddy bears were hurt. A explained that they had fallen of the stairs and that they needed urgent care. One had a broken leg and the other had a broken arm, ouch! After a visit to the ER - where A & L are nurses - they were OK again. Pfff, this was a close call!

Day 17 Dinner with friends

We had new friends over for dinner tonight. We had a great time and will surely invite them over again. After they went home, I remembered I still needed to take a pic for today. It's late and I'm tired and I'm almost falling asleep on my keyboard but I wanted to post it on time (almost).
Well, here are a few wine glasses we used today.

Day 16

Didn't think of taking a pic until my girls were getting ready to go to bed.
So that's it! "A-brushing-her-teeth-before-going-to-bed" photo!

Day 15

Today was L's check-up and she got a vaccine shot. This little girl is truly amazing, she went into the doctor's office with a big smile, set on my lap, just looked at me when the doc was giving her the shot and just kept smiling at me. Never ever cried!

DAY 14

Today, I've been spoiled again: dinner was ready when I came home from work : homemade lasagna with a great French Pomerol wine. It was again delicious!

My DH is a great cook. I wish he could make dinner more often. Twice in one week is quite exceptional!

DAY 13

This is the pic I was uploading to post today. Just love how warm and cosy it gets when this one is burning in our living room:

But while I was posting, DH yelled "Now is the time to take a photo". So I grabbed my camera and this is what I expected to find a few days ago and did find tonight:

Notice that L has already another book. She did finish the other one the day before yesterday I believe. I still think it's amazing how fast our kids learn to read!

DAY 12

I couldn't resist! This is my DH after a hard day at work and a hot meal . It's 6.00 PM and he's watching the news...

Oh, and ... he made dinner tonight, it was delicious!!! Couscous, chicken, tomato saus and cucumbers. Should have taken a pic of that: gorgeous colors! Maybe next time...

DAY 11 Buddha

Today we went to a Japanese New Year Happening organized by the Aikido martial art club and my DH was giving a demonstration of Judo. He's a black belt and the main trainer at our local judo club. After the demonstrations the trainer of the Aikido received a present: a huge Buddha.

I took a lot of pics today, most about the different forms of martial arts but the one I like the most is this one. L sitting next to Buddha in almost the same posture. Love it!

DAY 10

Today, my youngest fighted against the cold and went to scouts camp for 3 hours! I'm glad they didn't stay all the time outside. They played a little in the snow and then went inside but at dinner tonight she still had those rose cheaks from playing outside.

Friday, January 9, 2009

DAY 9

It's really really freezing cold out here and we aren't used to this kind of weather. At the moment we have -11°Celsius, that's 12,2 degrees Fahrenheit. So we stay indoors most of the time. The girls played outside at school but I hope not for long, it's really brrrr...
There is only one happy guy in our house: Fu! He loves the snow and he really doesn't care that it's almost frozen. I guess with his fur he doesn't feel the cold like we do. Isn't he sweet?

DAY 8

This was so cool! L is now in first grade and she's pretty good at reading. She got a "real book" like she calls it at Christmas and has read half of it already. Tonight my DH promised my girls that the 3 of them would read together for half an hour. So after a while I went to look at them and took this pic. I thought to get a pic with all three of them reading but the only one who had still her book in her hands was L.

I think this could become a bedtime ritual. The last 10 minutes they went into their own beds en read some more until the lights went out.

DAY 7 SHE'S NINE

Well, it happened! My baby is 9 years old!!! And ... she got herself a Nintendo DS for her birthday. She saved for it and with some money she got today she finally could buy it. She got 2 games with it (one from us and one her little sister bought for her). After work we went to the bowling alley, my DH let her bring a friend and after we played we all had a spaghetti and a coke (I didn't bring my camera, went strait from work so no pics from the game, sigh).
Before going to bed, we let her play a little with her DS. That's the photo for today!

I wanted to thank everyone for your comments and for the birthday wishes you sent A!
Tomorrow, I will translate them for her, she knows about them and was happy she got so many! Thanks again, ladies!

DAY 6 - last day as 8

Hi, today is A's last day as 8! I promised myself to make a LO about that last day. Got the idea from some great scrappers over at CDS, didn't I?! I didn't want to miss it this year! So, here she is : my, oh so soon to be 9 years old little "big" girl...

... without a chin! Why did I have to cut out her chin? This is like the prettiest pic I took today.

DAY 5

When we woke up this morning we had ... SNOW! And that on the first day we all had to go back to school and work after two weeks at home for the holidays!?! No sign of it at Christmas, nooo but today... plenty of it! I thought all day about taking a photo of the 4 inches of snow we got today, you know for our little 365 project ... and then my silly husband and my daughter went for a walk with the dog after supper and look how they came back :

A was soaking wet and I must say, the dog looked a lot like her!

DAY 4

This little kitty is A's new best friend. She's a "myepets.com" friend and she gave her the name "Pluisje" (= fluffy?). Even at dinner time, this kat is around. She's sitting with us at the dinner table.
L has one too, a koala bear, really cute too... maybe a pic for tomorrow...

Nothing happened at our home today so I had no clue what to take a picture of! and this is only day 4.

DAY 3

Today was our put-away-the-Christmas-tree-and-decorations day. So we did, I couldn't resist to take a pic of this little Christmas tree, isn't it sweet? I had 3 of them in our tree, together with 6 little Christmas balls in the same design, just loved that touch of orange. The other decorations were in silver and glass.

Missed the first day already

and ... OMG, it's 1:06 am so I technically missed the first 2 days !

I decided to play along, a bit late I know. I still need to decorate this blog, will have to do this later, though. I'm so not into this blog-thing!

Here's my first photo :

DAY 1:
January 1, 2009

This is a little Chinese box and ... well, this is one of the first pics I took on January 1st, 2009 (don't ask ... strange...)

DAY 2:
January 2, 2009
It took us all evening to make this card. It's a birthday card for a little girl who will be 7 tomorrow. L is reading the poem she wrote inside the card. Some of you may recognize the kit used here : Save The Magic by Bisontine
